NJ Saltwater Fisherman 3rd Annual Banquet

{jcomments on}

The Captains were definitely "in" this weekend as well over 100 members and guests of New Jersey Saltwater Fisherman took over the Captain's Inn in Forked River, NJ for the 3rd Annual NJSWF Banquet this past Saturday.  Not only were the prizes "off the hook", but the party raised an astounding $1,100 for the Recreational Fishing Alliance (RFA)!  Capt. Adam Nowalski of the RFA was in attendance and expressed his appreciation by saying, "(It was a) wonderful turnout for the 3rd Annual Banquet tonight, and the benefit raffle for the RFA-NJ was tremendous.  Thanks again to the entire NJSWF crew as well as all the members and those in attendance tonight!"

But, the RFA wasn't the only winner.  Thanks to the tremendous generosity of our party sponsors and friends everyone went home with something.  Prizes for the event took up eight banquet tables and ranged from sample packs of Gulp! and custom made wood plugs to rod & reel combos and full day charters with local captains!  See a complete list here .

The raffles themselves took a full two hours to complete.  The giveaways finally came to a close as the grand prize winner was announced.  The brand new rod & reel combo and complete tackle assortment (worth over $500) went to Vinny "Southpaw" Gough (Center).  Vinny was definitely on an incredible lucky streak, as he also won full day fishing trips on both the Irish Ayes and the Fish Monger!

The food was definitely on par with the prizes.  The menu included Filet Mignon, Apricot-Mustard Chicken, Grilled Salmon w/Cucumber Dill Sauce and Shrimp & Scallop Scampi, as well as a pasta station and vegetables.   The hospitality shown to us by the proprietors of the Captain's Inn was nothing less than stellar.  This lead Rod "Hotrod" Houck, founder of NJ Saltwater Fisherman to immediately book next year's party at the inn.  Of the party itself Rod announced, "The third time is a charm.  From the food to the service, we nailed it!"  He then added, "What a night!  Can we do it again next week?"

Rod, I'm sure we would all love to.

As always, the success of our events depends largely on the generous contributions of our members, site sponsors and companies.  To them we express our heartfelt appreciation and gratitude! Please remember to support those who support us.

Capt. Chris Gatley :

Chris started along the banks of the Delaware River while working the party boat fleet in Cape May during the summer months.  It did not take long for his guide service, Ardent Angler, to catch the eye of some of the industry's most prominent companies due to his on the water successes.   As his business, name and credibility grew, The Fisherman Magazine hired Chris as a Field Editor, responsible for various articles and stroylines across the northeast.  In 2005, Chris caught the eye of ESPN Outdoors where he began helping key executives with client entertainment and on the water success.  This partnership blossomed into online blogs, fishing video and other fishing related information.  Chris is one of us, growing up fishing the waterways of eastern Pennsylvania and New Jersey including the inshore and offshore waters of the north east and great lakes.
